Module/Blog #2 Assignment: Representative Work
Hello, my name is Parker O'Sullivan. This is the art I have chosen that connects the most with me as an individual.
This is the art that I have chosen for my assignment. It represents the battles faced within Norse Mythology, which is the artwork that is depicted in modern times. It shows my sensibility to being a significant history person and very interested in mythologies such as Norse or Greek. It has always been fascinating because there has been a lot of time, depictions, and people who love and support these types of things, whether it be to have art like this, stories, etc. There is also a lot of music from Norse Mythology, and as a music lover, I like listening to and working with this music (as I currently am right now, while working on this Blogpost).
This art depiction can also depict my values and see the light of things. These values can include what I see as a human being, how I feel about things, and how aware I can be of things that can happen or take place. I love the feeling and thought of being in a medieval environment, where something in Norse Mythology would have occurred, alongside the world's gods (I love the depictions and the gods that are always shown in these types of light). Gods you may have come to know, such as Zeus, Aries, Hermes, Apollo, Atlas, and many more than just Greek gods. They have all had their stories, conflicts, and events that shifted how we as humans see things. I feel like war is always going to happen, big or small, real or not real, and whether it is from Mythology or if it happened during our time alive. This picture shows the hardships of war and the warriors sacrificing themselves for what they think is right and for their god(s).
There is more to this picture than just how my values are. This picture also shows my taste and style of what I prefer for art. I love depictions of war and how it shows the conflict between both sides, with each defending what they think is right because no one is morally wrong. To an extent, of course, some things are just plain evil and unethical, even in something like Norse Mythology. I also love the art style. It is easier on the eyes, not too vibrant, and shows action more than anything. That is probably why I enjoy things like animation. Most are easy on the eyes with endless possibilities for design, content, and audiences of people who come to enjoy those types of things.
This assignment allowed me to show my thoughts, feelings, and ideas on this type of content that I have really come to enjoy over time. Thank you!
