Module/Blog 7 Assignment: Poetic License - Parker O'Sullivan

The poem I used: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/browse?contentId=33974

Reading the poem, "Machine" by, John Ciardi, gives off a very strong sense of trial and error, with attempts being made and them failing a lot. This poem is something that interests me because it is something I can relate to and it shows how progress can be made with time. When reading it over more than once, it showed an emphasis more on the thought and process of trial and error. I personally learn from the mistakes that I make and it helps shape me into a better person this poem does have a similar feeling when it comes to it. Being reforged and changed/altered to make it better and continuing to reforge this piece shows the same feeling of wanting to become better.

A commentary of the poem would be whoever is trying to make a fully functional machine but is trying to find the best and most fully functional part for this machine. A lot of trial and error has to be made so that the machine properly functions and goes in perfect function. If one or more parts stop working, functioning, or get destroyed, then it will be reforged and made to be stronger and to learn from the previous mistakes. The main thing that you learn that is always with the metal is the attempts made and mistakes made to make this machine work properly. The main point to get from this poem is to never forget the mistakes that you have made in life.
