When looking for ideas that I would do for this assignment, I did immediately look for pictures of my animals or nice pictures that I've taken in Florida. As they were not allowed to be used, I came up with a bright idea that shows my artistic side well, art and styles within video games.
I decided that I would use one of my favorite building games, Valheim. Valheim is a Viking-based survival game where you start with nothing besides yourself. You have to survive, build and thrive through this Norse Mythology world and prove yourself to Odin. During the pandemic, there wasn't much I could do at the time. I still did not have a job when it happened and needed something to put my mind to, and I found a gem during this rough time.
Viking Villa
This first image I have here is a Viking-inspired house created by myself and a couple of friends who created this during our first time playing this game. I plan to be a graphics or designer, which does help with how the theme of this photo is Viking-related. One problem faced when creating this piece was the structure itself. The building needed support for the building not to crumble. Luckily, one of my friends planned to be an engineer and gave some support tips that actually worked with the structure of the Villa, making it able to stand.
Hall of Atonement
As this is a Viking game based on Norse Mythology and you are playing as an outcast of Odin, I decided to create a Norse/Viking-inspired Hall and named it the "Hall of Atonement." It was a place of worship for Odin and praying for forgiveness to this land's gods. I love how structured, and yet open feel this piece is.
Mage's Lookout
This building was created to symbolize a more Fantasy/Mage feeling to a Viking-styled game. The look gives off a strong and sturdy-feeling, as a tower would. It was fun to create this and structure it the way I wanted it to be since stone is stronger and can hold more weight than wood. It was a very nice addition to our village to give off a more unique and diverse style.
A Detailed KitchenThough there isn't much in this picture and is a simple kitchen within a house, it has small details of things on tables, labeling storage, or things like we would in real life, alongside the nicely made Hearth by one of my friends. Since smoke does get caught up in a home with no windows or vents present, it does the same here. I like this one a lot from all the countless buildings and creations because it shows how unique, simple, and organized.
Temple Of Moder
With talking of Norse Gods, myself and eight others created this masterpiece to worship the Norse god/deity Moder. She is a shapeshifter and, in this game, depicted as a very agile dragon you have to defeat. This temple, not the one behind it, took many hours and days to complete. We also incorporated a Japanese style into it to give off a more diverse setting within this game that we all thought looked very well in a high snowy mountain setting.
Though there are many more buildings and things created by me and others, I was able to find something to do during my Covid-19 experience. It kept me away from a lot of the sad news and helped with the social distancing aspect. Though it does not depict anything from real life, I tried to make an appealing and styled build that can be depicted from real life. I thought these pictures/screenshots were a more unique style and didn't structure around the photos that weren't allowed.
