Research Artifact: Final Project

Research Artifact: Final Project Made By: Parker O'Sullivan            Around the start of the 1950s and 1960s, video games were created by scientists to test the newfound game engines and advanced technology (of that time). They would be considered small animations by scientists to test their abilities at coding and creating games. When tested by the public, they were deemed, "fun", "enjoyable", and such. Video games since then have massively improved in a short time, with things like home consoles, Personal Computers (PCs), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), mobile, and quite a bit more. With all of the new types of technology that come into this world, newer generations have become more naturalized and normalized (like our generation).          With video games being normalized and having many different ways to play them, a lot of different emotions and feelings are being used through the human senses. When someon...

Final Assignment/Post: Your Manifesto

When looking through past assignments that I had completed throughout this course, it showed quite a bit about all types of art, old, new, and anything in the world. There is art everywhere in the world and anything can be considered art these days, whether they are physical, electronic, or from different places in the world. Such things as music, abstract art, digital art, and much more are things that I used during my time in class and there are much more types of art that are shown within the world. Out of the assignments that were completed, the " Module 9 Assignment: Photographer's Eye". This assignment was more interesting than what I originally viewed it as. I was told that I wasn't supposed to use certain pictures to talk about and I decided to change up the traditional thought of what the assignment was for and used it in a more personal and something that I really like doing. I decided to use video games and the art and desi...

Module 14 Assignment: Ekphrasis

"Michelangelo, Creation of Adam" Man and god are close A touch away With their figures similar, their fixation on each other is high As man is interested in god God is interested in man God gave life to man and placed him on Earth As man does God's work with time  Looking at this piece of art from a golden age in time, during the Renaissance, the"Creation of Adam", by Michelangelo. This piece of art shows heavy on the creation of the first ones, Adam and Eve, being made into existence by god. Since the gods wanted something to observe and look over, they made beings that could expand and grow over time, have families, and all since they were limited to such things. Humans were made to live, create families, serve their purpose on the world made and given to them, then return it when they die. Gods were always interested in looking into humans and how they were, acted, and how are with others, how families were made and raised, and how time just keeps on moving...

Module/Blog 13 Assignment: Not Seen on TV

Image
When looking at the clips given, the one I decided to talk about is "Ascension" from Bill Viola. This clip was very interesting to me because it shows a slow-motion capture of someone plummeting into the water and rising back up, hence the name "Ascension". This clip did interest me quite, it shows a plummet down to the darkness and the slow rise back up to the surface. The clip gave me that feeling of falling down and slowly rising back up. The thing that is being portrayed in this clip is that no matter how deep you fall, you will always rise back up, whether you want to or not.  As this clip is looked upon, it does not show anything that is cultural or critical of the sort. Even though it is something simple, it can show a bigger picture, depending on who views or has their opinion on it. That is how I can see things differently since everyone has their own opinions on topics or what they view. If everyone has the same opinion then the topic, video, tv, etc...

Module/Blog 11 Assignment: Anatomy of a Scene

Drama     When looking at the films given to me, one that stuck out was the film, "Freaks" Directed by Tod Browning. When viewing this film, it did give off an eerie yet circus feeling to it when I started watching it. Hans was an interesting character that fell for Cleopatra, another circus artist/entertainer, instead of his fiancee, Frieda. Cleopatra, who learns of Hans's mass wealth and decides that she wants to marry him and get someone, Hercules, to kill the little person for the inheritance that she could gain for his death. Since she did marry Hans and after some time Hans fell ill and Cleopatra is trying to poison him. A lot of plot and action went on with this film and did give off an older feeling since this was a 20th-century film. Though it was a little confusing to listen through and to more clearly understand, Cleopatra paid a great price for trying to seduce and take Hans's life away. She was mutilated and changed beyond recognition, to be turned into...

Module/Blog 9 Assignment: Photographer's Eye

Image
When looking for ideas that I would do for this assignment, I did immediately look for pictures of my animals or nice pictures that I've taken in Florida. As they were not allowed to be used, I came up with a bright idea that shows my artistic side well, art and styles within video games. I decided that I would use one of my favorite building games, Valheim. Valheim is a Viking-based survival game where you start with nothing besides yourself. You have to survive, build and thrive through this Norse Mythology world and prove yourself to Odin. During the pandemic, there wasn't much I could do at the time. I still did not have a job when it happened and needed something to put my mind to, and I found a gem during this rough time. Viking Villa This first image I have here is a Viking-inspired house created by myself and a couple of friends who created this during our first time playing this game. I plan to be a graphics or designer, which does help with how the theme of this pho...

Module/Blog 8 Assignment: Plotting

It starts like any other day. I wake up early in the morning, around 6:30 AM, to take out my dogs, who need to go out in the morning. It takes some time, and I give them their food for the morning. After that, I go out for a walk in the morning for a while, which would be around an hour to an hour and a half. Then, I would shower, and it would be now around 8:45 - 9:00 AM. I tend to make myself breakfast after this time, whether going out or making a meal with what I have (I love to cook). After I am done with my meal, I tend to start my schoolwork for the day, whether it be that I do this work at the school or online, it depends on the days I go, whether it is if I need to be at school at a particular time or if I am not required to be there. Then, the time would be around 2:00 PM, which would be the time I would need to get ready for my day at work. I would need to be prepared by 4:00 PM, and I would need to be prepared by then, uniform with my keys and wallet with my license. ...
